The Pigne d’Arolla is an emblematic peak of our valley that you can see from the coliving. And guess what, in winter you can ski tour up to its top 🙂

Pigne d’Arolla is one of the biggest mountain of our valley and it’s also quite an emblematic summit as it’s the highest point on the Haute Route between Chamonix and Zermatt. Living here we can see it from almost everywhere and that’s why I really wanted to reach it’s summit ski touring. Also one of the 1st ski touring outing I did in our valley was to go up to Vignettes hut, which happens to be the 1st part of the itinerary to go to the Pigne d’Arolla. As I went back there many times, I also wanted to push a bit further 😉 .

Even if it’s not a super technical outing (PD / 3.1 / E1- in ski touring grade), it does require quite a good level of endurance as you need to climb around 1800m to reach the top from Arolla. But you’ll be rewarded with insane alpine landscapes, crossing glaciers and at the top you’ll have an incredible 360 degrees panorama over all the 4000m peaks of the alps! Definitely an experience to remember 🙂

Here are a few pictures of this outing to wet you appetite:
